On behalf of the Korean Liver Cancer Association, I am pleased to extend my heartfelt congratulations on the publication of “Surgical treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma: an expert consensus-based practical recommendation from the Korean Liver Cancer Association” in the Journal of Liver Cancer.
This achievement reflects the dedicated efforts and expertise of the authors, to whom I express my deepest appreciation. It also represents another important milestone in Korean Liver Cancer Association’s ongoing commitment to establishing practical and evidence-based guidance for the management of hepatocellular carcinoma. Following our previous consensus projects on transarterial chemoembolization and local ablation, this third initiative on surgical management further demonstrates Korean Liver Cancer Association’s strong determination to provide comprehensive recommendations that can be directly applied in clinical practice. Importantly, this work was made possible through the joint efforts of the Korean Liver Cancer Association, the Korean Association of Liver Surgery, and the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary Pancreatic Surgery, reflecting the strength of collaboration among our professional communities.
This consensus document is particularly meaningful, as it addresses specialized aspects of surgical treatment not fully covered in earlier guidelines. I believe that the recommendations presented here will serve as a valuable reference for clinicians, supporting sound decision-making and ultimately benefiting our patients. I kindly encourage our colleagues to cite this consensus, together with other significant works published in the Journal of Liver Cancer, so that its impact may be shared more broadly. I also look forward to continued contributions from our surgical colleagues and other specialists, which will further strengthen the role of the journal as a trusted source of guidance in liver cancer care.
